On Changes, Respect and Understanding
Friday, May 25, 2012 at 4:45PM Those of you who know Open English know us for the irreverent humor of our ads and our firm belief in the power of online technology and native English speakers as teachers. One of our humorous fictional characters unfortunately struck a nerve with certain groups, including an important teachers’ association, in Brazil.
Because we feel nothing but mutual respect and admiration for our colleagues in education, we talked things out, took their criticisms to heart and will be making some changes. This video conveys our message to these hard-working educators. Part of learning and communicating effectively – an essential part of our mission with our more than 40,000 students – is receiving feedback and adjusting the message, so we’re doing just that!
